Melody - Rabbe Enckell

A bird’s warble flies
like a swivel-bait cast over waves.
A splash of the morning light’s gold leaf
around giddying rotation
spun out
into the very fibre of disappearance.

Rabbe Enckell (1903 - 1974) Finland
Translated by David McDuff
