Mother to be do you ponder the future - Bruce Levitan

Mother to be do you ponder the future,
Wondering whether the world will be safe;
For a new baby will there be some refuge
In a land so filled with orphans and waifs?

Promise of hope, a bright spark for tomorrow,
That’s who the angel did say was to come;
How can this be when the world’s so uncertain:
So many live by the beat of the drum.

God, in Your wisdom You’ve chosen this woman:
Little known girl in a small country town.
Taking Your word, Your new hope for Your people,
Praising Your name and Your spirit come down.

Time after time God’s choice is for the humble,
Pointing the way to be His chosen ones.
Mary was chosen, and Jesus our Saviour
Made whole the broken that we had become.

Mothers to be in our uncertain nations,
We are no different in all our shortfalls,
Uncertain futures and family troubles;
Promised in Jesus, God’s hope is for all.
